Trip to the USA!

Tonight I bought my plane tickets for my trip to the states this fall!

I fly in AND out of Indianapolis (August 12th- September 29th),

I do not have a lot of dates nailed down but...

I will be in Pennsylvania at Word of Life Chapel on August 17th
Then down to Tennessee (hopefully) and Arkansas
I plan on being in the Nebraska (Iowa) area August 30-September 17thish
Then Chicago and Indiana for the remainder of the trip.

The reason for the trip is to raise A MINIMUM of  $1000 in monthly and some on time funds. I HAVE to accomplish this to come back on September 29th.

PLEASE...
*Pray for the monthly need!
*Think of small groups, churches or individuals you think i should talk to and help me set up a time!
*Support me! Five dollars or a hundred dollars, every bit helps!
*if you can help with travel costs, hotel points, etc ... let me know!

Relationship Building.

So much can happen in between blog posts!

This week has been full of soccer games, playing soccer, teaching english at a junior high school, teaching english in Jesus Maria and Acozac, mowing grass, working out at the gym, eating, eating and more eating!

This summer we are focusing on making NEW friends! How are we doing that?

-Soccer. The guys play soccer in a local park in a new area. They have already made some new friends and we are inviting them to the guys house on sunday (yes, during church) to watch the Mexico Soccer game. Please be praying for this time of fellowship with our new friends.

- The Gym. They guys are doing weights and playing soccer. And the girls are upstairs taking zumba classes and talking to the women in the classes. (although we did DARE the boys to take a zumba class with us next week, lets see if they do!).  I was able to take the zumba instructor home after class the other day. She is looking for a place to fit in, a place to belong, a place with friends. So, we invite her to hang out with us. Please pray for this relationship (and the other ones in the gym).

- English in local public schools. Getting to know teachers and students in Palmas (the neighborhood) and next week in Jesus Maria too! Ever want to feel like a rock star, come here to one of these schools!

- English Classes in Samuels house. Three classes, all new students, friendships being made!

- And just living life. In all three neighborhoods

We have some great people here this summer! God is moving and changing Ixtapaluca- one friendship at a time!

Sports Outreaches!

Sports outreach is one way that we build relationships in Ixtapaluca. Monday and Wednesday in Jesus Maria and Tuesday and Thursday in Palmas (a new area for us).

Two days in and we have had some good turnouts.

In Jesus Maria it is a bunch of kiddos and their families. We had so much fun yesterday with a couple tournaments.
I was able to make a new friend. A newer person in Jesus Maria. After about a 30 minute conversation she is excited for the things happening at Tiempo de Vivir (our community center). I hope to continue to build this relationship with her (and her family, she has two little boys).
Relationships, why we do what we do.

In Palmas we had a good size group of teens! They played soccer HARD! We are going to be inviting them to movie nights, game nights etc.

Oh and of course we are following and watching lots of the world cup! Go Mexico AND the USA!

5.5 Things (cause I like lists)

1. I love the rainy days we have been having. Cool, overcast and perfect for having an afternoon cup of coffee!

2.  I went to a funeral this last week. Probably the most awkward things since being in Mexico. The only person I really knew was in the casket. This family lives on my block and I became friends with him because of his dog (shocker). Sweet older guy. Anyways his wife came and asked me to go to the funeral because the guy told him i was the light of the neighborhood. Anyways I went. It was awkward... good story!

3. My favorite part about being here is watching God transform peoples lives. This morning I was teaching about the life of Christ to the younger youth (ages 12-15). One boy has been very stand offish in the past. Today he was interested, asked questions and memorized the points with everyone else. Love it!

4. I really enjoy the evening coffees with the ladies. Its so fun... laugh, talk, dream about trips to cancun ;)

5. The interns come this week. And so the crazy two months begins! Should be a great couple with interns, groups and visitors. Lots of new outreaches, watching the world cup, hanging out and sharing the Love of God with Ixtapaluca.
